21st August Opening Ceremony Speech

I went back to Matshiru High School in the morning to be introduced to all of the teachers, and principle. I had to make a speech to the whole school in the opening ceremony.....nerve wracking! The school baseball team won the Nagano league so they played in the finals of the national tournament, and so to add to the pressure a film crew was there filming the ceremony. I gave the first part of my speech in Japanese and then continues in English....I can just imagine them trying to translate my lovely Midlands accent on the TV.......gooo-ing (going), Lindin (London)......you can take the girl out of Raunds.....!!!!
The school is about 50 minutes away by bus so Thursdays are going to be a long day for me. It will break up the week though and I get to teach at a different level.

I went back to school in the afternoon and Miyou Sensei took me to get my mobile phone....woo hoo! It is sooo cute! I also went and bought a new bike after school.....following my `accident` my old bike is rather battered.....however not until I was cycling up the hill to get home did I realise this bike has no gears....so I am going to get even fitter cycling up the hill to school everyday!
