Saturday 13th January - World Championship Skeleton

Jay and I headed up to Iizna to watch the Skeleton on Saturday. Skeleton is like luge but is head first. The sledge goes up to 140km/ph, whilst the driver? tries to guide it through the quickest and smoothest path I guess. Yamamoto-Sensei had organised staff passes for us so we got to go 'behind the scenes' a little and were provided with a free lunch! In return I was nominated to help with the award ceremony at the end of the day.

We met the guy who runs the Skeleton club in Iizna. I asked about having a try and he gave me number to call him and go along! After the event me and Jay were speaking to some of the athletes and asking how they got into it. One girl said she only trained for 8 weeks before becoming the national champion in America....so watch this space! But me and Jay did decide that the measure of how good you are at Skeleton is really how crazy you are.
