On Wednesday it was the opening ceremony at Matsushiro high school so I took Inga and Ronnie along to watch and meet the teachers. We spent the morning talking to the English teachers in the office and drinking green tea. After the ceremony one of the teachers volunteered to give us a guided tour of Matsushiro and Mori.
He took us to the old school that had been preserved, the castle ground remains from a famous battle, museums, restaurants and then to see the apricot blossom in Mori.

We tried a traditional Japanese dessert for lunch made from ground chestnuts, fruit, mochi (pulped rice) and agar agar (made from seaweed). I knew it would be an unusual taste for Inga and Ronnie and even I struggled to eat it - but that was due to the fact that I couldn't stop laughing watching them eating it and trying to be polite!
Mori is apparently a good spot for viewing the blossoms as it is an orchard for growing apricots.

After the ordeal of the dessert at lunch time we decided to have a relatively familiar meal of curry that night for dinner.
