This weekend I went to Hakuba 47 with Kiren and some friends from Yaminashi. We had an early start on Saturday morning to drive up there by 9am to meet everyone at the hotel.
A few hiccups with my bindings and we were set to have our first run of the season! Its still quite early so only the top of the mountain was open but it was good to get out there. It really lifted my spirits and reminded why I came to Japan - to have fun and snowboard! This month so far has been quite slow, but now that the ski season has started I'm so excited!
The lifts closed at 4pm so we made our way back to the hotel for onsen and a few beers.....Did I say that the guys from Yamanashi are Irish?! So we had quite a few beers! And then attempted to play darts, which we realised the next day we only got half through the game and forgot we were playing!
The hotel room we had was a mix of Japanese tatami style and western bed`s on a split level...but I think by the end of the drinking that night the stairs up to the beds was a bit much for some people so most of us ended up on the tatami.
It was one of the best days and nights Ive had in Japan so far and I haven`t laughed that much for a long time....the laughing made my side ache so much I forgot about the bruises on my knees!!
