Kamakura

Today I went to Kamakura with Kudo to see the 'Great Buddha'. Kamakura is in Kanagawa prefecture about 1 hour from Tokyo. We took the local train to Kita-Kamakura and started the afternoon with a walk around the temples. After finding out the Great Buddha was 1 hour walk we decided to take a taxi there.
It was really breath taking and such a peaceful place.

After seeing the traditional sights we took another local train to Shonan beach and watched the surfers as we walked along the front. There is an amazing view of Mt Fuji from Shonan.

We got back to Tokyo around 8pm and was suddenly hit by hunger as we hadn't had time to stop and eat all day. Kudo took me to another back street restaurant, Thai this time, and was really nice.
It's a nice feeling to know that the beach is a short/cheap train ride away now...and still enough time left his summer for surfing!
